Dieses Filmprogramm wurde von Iosif Király vorgeschlagen und besteht aus einer Reihe von Arbeiten von Student*innen und Alumni der National University of Arts Bukarest (UNARTE).

In seiner 160-jährigen Tradition hat die renommierte rumänische Universität Alumni wie Constantin Brancusi, Victor Brauner, M.H. Maxy, Paul Neagu, Ion Grigorescu und viele andere hervorgebracht. Die präsentierte Auswahl neuer Filme wurde von Irina Botea Bucan, Alexandru Patatics, Alexandru Solomon und Razvan Tun getroffen. Beteiligt waren auch Künstler*innen, Lehrer*innen, sowie Koordinator*innen für Video, Filmsprache und digitale Medien sowie der Fotografie und Beteiligte des 1995 gegründeten Instituts für zeitbasierte Medien, einer der jüngsten Kunstabteilungen von UNARTE. Mit der Entwicklung jener Technologie, auf der Fotografie und Film basieren – insbesondere im Übergang von analoger zu digitaler Arbeit – ist der Bildungsprozess in Bezug auf diese Medien heute völlig anders als noch vor drei Jahrzehnten. Die technologische Evolution/Revolution fand im Kontext der tiefgreifenden sozialen, politischen und wirtschaftlichen Veränderungen statt, die Rumänien nach dem Fall des Eisernen Vorhangs durchmachte. Die Studierenden sind gegenüber dem sie umgebenden Wandel und den daraus resultierenden Problemen nicht unempfindlich geblieben. Viele der sie umgebenden Herausforderungen scheinen dann gefiltert durch ihre eigenen Erfahrungen in den Fotos und Filmen auf, die sie in ihre Kunst machen.

This film selection was proposed by Iosif Király, consisting of a body of work by students and alumni of the National University of Arts Bucharest (UNARTE).

With a 160-year tradition, the acclaimed Romanian university has alumni such as Constantin Brancusi, Victor Brauner, M.H. Maxy, Paul Neagu, Ion Grigorescu, and many others. This new selection was made by Irina Botea Bucan, Alexandru Patatics, Alexandru Solomon and Razvan Tun. Also involved were artists, teachers, coordinators on video, film language, and digital media of the Photography as well as the Time-based Media Art Department, established in 1995, which is one of the newest art departments of UNARTE. With the evolution of the technology on which photography and film are based, especially the transition from analog to digital, the educational process related to these media is totally different today than it was three decades ago. This technological evolution/revolution took place in the context of the profound social and economic transformations, that Romania went through after the fall of the Iron Curtain. Students have not remained insensitive to the political, social, and economic changes around them and the problems they generate. Many of these problems appear filtered through their own experiences in the photographs and films they make.
